Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic set for £36million LOAN deal to AC Milan with option to buy next summer

MANCHESTER UNITED target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is set for a £36million LOAN deal to AC Milan with an option to buy next summer.

The Serbian midfield star, 23, has been on the radar of almost all of Europe’s elite clubs this summer.

However, no team has made it far into negotiations, with Lazio demanding around £138m for their key asset.

With Milinkovic-Savic thought to want a move away from Rome, AC Milan have launched an audacious loan bid to bring the Serb to the San Siro.

The Serie A giants have offered £36m just for the loan – with the option to buy at the end of the 2018-19 season.

While no fee has been announced as yet, it’s expected Milinkovic-Savic would still cost at least a further £100m.

The news will come as a blow to Manchester United, who saw the Lazio star as their safety net should Paul Pogba leave this month.

The World Cup-winning midfielder is desperate to make a move to Barcelona before the European transfer window closes.

With the Premier League window already shut, United had no hopes of adding Milinkovic-Savic now, but would have still had one eye on a January swoop.

But AC Milan appear to have won the race for the star –  to pair with Chelsea man Tiemoue Bakayoko in midfield – having reportedly seen a £107m permanent transfer offer rejected earlier this month.
