Tottenham needn’t worry about Harry Kane’s hamstring injury ahead of Manchester United clash… they didn’t lose a single game without him on the pitch last season

TOTTENHAM were dealt a sore blow on Friday as they confirmed Harry Kane was struggling with a hamstring injury and would miss the Manchester United game.

Spurs will now make the long trip to Old Trafford without their star man, who is the Premier League’s top scorer with eight goals this season.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.

After all, Spurs failed to lose a SINGLE game last season when taking to the pitch without Kane.

During the 2016-17 campaign, Tottenham won five and drew three of their eight games whilst Kane was sidelined through injury.

The England star’s first knock came early in the season, between September and October.

While the initial stats look good on paper, it is around this time Tottenham began to drop crucial points.

Having kicked-off their Kane-less run with two wins – 2-0 vs Middlesbrough and 2-1 vs Man City – they then drew THREE games in three weeks.

A 1-1 draw with West Brom was followed by a goalless stalemate with Bournemouth and another 1-1 – this time against Leicester.

Fortunately for Pochettino and Co, Kane returned following that frustrating spell in the season.

However, Kane suffered another knock towards the end of the season… not that Tottenham seemed to notice.

Spurs beat Southampton 2-1, before following that up with a 2-0 win over Burnley and a 3-1 win over Swansea as the finished the season strongly.

Tottenham finished the season in second place, eight points above Manchester City, but seven points shy of Chelsea’s tally.

While Spurs went unbeaten without Kane, those three draws around this time last year could have been the difference between coming second and being crowned champions.

With the North Londoners currently level on points with Manchester United – both on 20 – going into Saturday’s game, they’ll hope to be able to perform without Kane.

As they learnt just a year ago… dropped points at this stage of the season can be debilitating for a team with title aspirations.
