Tottenham try to sell tickets to MK Dons fans for relocated Carabao Cup clash with Watford after poor sales

MK DONS supporters can buy tickets for Tottenham’s home Carabao cup clash with Watford as the North London side are struggling to sell them to their own members, according to reports.

Stadium MK became a last-minute venue for the cup game against the Hornets as Spurs’ new stadium hit major delays and their current home Wembley is unavailable.

Spurs Carabao Cup home game with Watford next week will be played at Stadium MKAlamy

Tottenham had been due to move into their new 62,062-seat stadium on the site of the old White Hart Lane last weekend, but the move-in date has been pushed back to at least the end of October.

The Daily Mail claim MK Dons season ticket holders have been told they can buy up to four tickets for next Wednesday’s game and be seated in a designated section in the upper tier.

It remains unclear how many tickets have not been sold for next week’s game, but all Spurs season ticket holders who wanted to attend have their full allocation.

Tickets went on general sale to Tottenham fans on Tuesday, the same they were offered to MK Dons fans.

After the draw, Spurs were given the chance to apply to the Football League to reverse the fixture and play the game at Vicarage Road.

However, after consulting with fans, the club top brass opted to rent 30,500 capacity Stadium MK.

Watford appealed to have the fixture reversed regardless, but the Football League found in favour of Tottenham.

Spurs have confirmed that all three of their Champions League group games will be held at Wembley, the last of which will be against Inter Milan on November 28.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores spectacular strike to hit 500 career goals as LA Galaxy lose to Toronto FC

The LA Galaxy striker, 36, hit the impressive milestone as LA Galaxy lost 5-3 to Toronto FC.

But all the fans will be talking about is Ibrahimovic’s finish, which saw him spin 180 degrees before using the outside of his boot to clip in off the post.

It is possible the Swede may have let his achievement go to his head just slightly as he released an image of himself as Norse god Thor.

And he was involved in a brilliant exchange with a reporter, who revealed had never seen home fans give a standing ovation to an away player’s goal.

Ibrahimovic replied: “It’s not the first time I’ve gotten a standing ovation from the away team.”

Harry Winks ready to revitalise creaking Spurs midfield after long injury layoff
Mauricio Pochettino pointed the finger at his players after Tottenham's loss at Watford, but the FC crew agree he should be pointing at himself. It has been six-and-a-half months since Harry Winks last started a match and 10 months since he last played at his top level with full fitness before November's ankle injury against Crystal Palace. That is a long time in football, and players who miss lengthy stretches can sometimes be left behind. Teammates or rivals can seize their opportunities to impress. Sides can evolve without them. Yet Winks has not lost any of his importance during his absence, for club or for country. Both squads...

Euro 2020: How many teams will be playing in the tournament, and how many cities will host matches?

EURO 2020 will be a unique tournament that will not be hosted by a single nation or joint bid.

It will mark 60 years of the competition and also sees countries gain more opportunities to qualify.

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has continued to organise the unique Euro 2020 tournament, after his disgraced predecessor Michel Platini laid the groundwork

How many teams will play at Euro 2020?

The previous European Championships saw a expanded tournament of 24 teams, with Euro 2020 continuing on from that.

Yet, countries have previously only reached the tournament through qualifying.

They now have another opportunity in the Uefa Nations League, with four places on offer.

With the inaugural competition split into four leagues, dependant on rank, a spot will be awarded to a nation ranked between 40th and 55th by the European football governing body.

Among those sides are San Marino and the newly formed Kosovo.

How many cities will host matches?

In previous European Championships, there has been a single bid by nations.

However, the 2020 version sees the tournament spread across 12 cities in different countries in Europe.

Among those are Wembley, which will host seven matches including both semi-finals and the final on July 12.

The full list of cities are:

Wembley – London, England Allianz Arena – Munich, Germany Stadio Olimpico – Rome, Italy Olympic Stadium – Baku, Azerbaijan Krestovsky Stadium – Saint Petersburg, Russia Johan Cruyff Arena – Amsterdam, Holland San Mames – Bilbao, Spain Ferenc Puskas Stadium – Budapest, Hungary Hampden Park – Glasgow, Scotland Parken Stadium – Copenhagen, Denmark Aviva Stadium – Dublin, Republic of Ireland Arena Nationala – Bucharest, Romania Wembley will host the two semi-finals and then the final for the tournamentPA:Press Association

West Ham would be forced to splash out staggering £15m to sack under-pressure Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham would be forced to splash out staggering £15m to sack under-pressure Manuel Pellegrini

WEST HAM would have to cough up an astonishing £15million if they wanted to sack manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers have made a shocking start to the season having lost all four of their opening matches to leave themselves rock bottom of the Premier League.

That has turned the focus on the position of boss Pellegrini – who is now under mounting pressure just a month into his reign in charge.

But the Times claim West Ham have made a huge error by failing to insert a termination clause in his contract when they appointed him, leaving themselves liable to a massive compensation deal should they want to axe him.

The Hammers were so keen to bring in the former Manchester City and Real Madrid boss from Hebei China Fortune they made him one of the division’s highest paid managers on £5m-a-year before bonuses.

But in failing to insist on a break clause if things went badly, the club left themselves exposed to having to pay up the entire length of his contract if they wanted to dispense with his services.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold, along with Chair Karren Brady, released the purse strings at the London Stadium this year to back Pellegrini in the transfer market.

It saw West Ham splash out £100m on new signings as well as sanctioning big wages to sign Jack Wilshere on a free tranfser.

So they are desperate for their investment to reap rewards – and have little choice but to keep faith with the 64-year-old for the time being.

The huge cost in making a change will also have a major influence on any thoughts the Hammers board have over the managerial position.

Pellegrini has taken a short break back home in Chile at the start of the international windowPellegrini has taken a short break back home in Chile at the start of the international windowReuters

But the club face a daunting run of fixtures when they return from the international break which could make or break Pellegrini’s future.

Next up is a trip to Everton before home matches against Chelsea and Manchester United.

A trip to Brighton follows before Tottenham are next on the list of opponents – and should the Hammers reach November with barely a point to their name they would be under huge pressure to make a change.

Despite the club’s poor start, Pellegrini has gone ahead with his plans to fly back to Chile for a holiday at the start of the international break instead of staying and working with his squad.

That is despite the fact just four of the West Ham squad are away on international duty.

Hugo Lloris out of France clash against Germany as Tottenham star struggles with thigh injury

HUGO LLORIS has been ruled out of France’s clash with Germany, as the Tottenham star struggles with a thigh injury.

Les Bleus’ captain, 31, missed Spurs’ 2-1 defeat at Watford with the niggle and is now set to miss the World Cup winners’ Uefa Nations League opener on Thursday.

Paris Saint-Germain No1 Alphonse Areola is now tipped to win his first senior France cap, with usual No2 Steve Mandanda also out of the squad.

Over the weekend, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was quick to play-down Lloris’ absence for the defeat at Vicarage Road.

Ahead of the game, Poch said: “Of course he’s going to miss the game against Watford, but we hope for Liverpool he will be ready again.

“It’s not a big issue.”

Last month, Lloris was arrested after being caught drink-driving following a night out on the town with pals.

After his arrest, the No1 was apologetic, saying: “I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my team-mates, the manager and all of the supporters.

“Drink-driving is completely unacceptable. I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set.”

However, Pochettino revealed he never once considered stripping Lloris of the captaincy following the incident.
