Manchester United could have to fend off another Real Madrid swoop for David De Gea after Kepa turns down Los Blancos move

MANCHESTER UNITED could have another problem on their hands this summer over David De Gea as reports emerged a top Real Madrid target Kepa wants to stay at Athletic Bilbao.

The young Spanish stopper has been a target for Los Blancos, with the club reportedly ready to fight for his signature.

But manager Zinedine Zidane has stubbornly refused to make any more signings this window, after a massive slump in form from the European champions.

And Kepa Arrizabalaga, 23, has decided to remain at the San Memes for at least the rest of the season as he seeks to seal a place in the Spain squad for the World Cup.

According to Marca, he has “grown tired of delays” from the Spanish capital and wants to remain loyal to the Basque club.

The deal is set to be announced this week after 16 months of talks and he will sign until 2023 or 2024 and he will become their third-highest paid player.

Kepa has also had a foot injury that has discouraged Real from going in hard on making the signing happen.

Zidane’s reign as Real boss has been questioned, but he was helped by a 7-1 win against Deportivo yesterday.
