The 30-year-old looked set to leave Old Trafford this summer after rejecting numerous attempts to extend his deal throughout the season.

Euro giants including Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan were linked, but it was Arsenal who quickly became frontrunners for his signature.

However, it was revealed this week that Fellaini had performed a miraculous U-turn following months of speculation.

It’s believed the Belgian was offered a two-year contract by United with the option to extend for a third season.

While his new £100,000-a-week pay packet is higher than the figure touted by Arsenal.

The report adds that Fellaini will make his new deal official this weekend ahead of his sixth season at the club.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly looking to strengthen three key areas in order to challenge Manchester City for their Premier League title.

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, Lyon winger Nabil Fekir and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowksi are all said to be on Mourinho’s radar following the capture of Porto right-back Diogo Dalot and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.
